Blog Article #11

So I was on the Party track for the weekend. There was going to be a party Friday night and Sunday night with Halloween right smack in the middle.
So on Friday after whacking my head off the window I started to get a massive headache. Great… I don’t know about you but normally at a party most people have a headache the next morning, not before they go to one. Then to top it off I find out that it was another party where everyone was sleeping over after. So I started to do the math. Go to a party with a headache + for a person that I don’t know that well (had only met her once before) + sleep over with a whole bunch of kids that I don’t know = my worrisome side kicking in. This didn’t honestly sound like a good idea or a lot of fun for me, so I decided to forgo it. Instead I stayed up till 4 in the morning, I know, I know I should have gone to sleep, but I talked with my parents (mostly my dad because he had gotten home from work late) until two in the morning. Then I tried to go to bed because to tell you the truth I really was tired, but my head was killing me, seriously it felt like a horse had kicked me in the face. So instead I drew and listened to music. It was soothing, then at four in the morning I was so tired that I had to go to sleep and pretty much the minute that my head touched my pillow I was gone.

Halloween. In Canada and the United States is a grand occasion, with parties and people of all ages Trick or Treating. Well in France, it’s not even close to that. Hardly anyone goes trick or treating, supposedly it was quite popular about two or three years ago but like most fads it has slowly disappeared. This was explained to me and I figured that there would be you know at least ten kids ore maybe five. That’s what I was hoping for. Guess how many kids we got. Take a guess, any guess. Here, I’ll tell you because I’m pretty sure that you won’t be able to figure it out. ONE, ONE SOLITARY KID. At like 6 o’clock. About two hours later my friend came to the door looking for candy so she doesn’t count, but seriously only one kid came to the door. I was so disappointed. That night my host sister and I were invited to go to a person’ s Halloween gathering to watch scary movies, eat candy and once again SLEEP OVER. I don’t know what it is with these French and sleeping over. So this night I turned it down once again because this time I had never, ever met the person who was throwing the party. This was okay because my host sister barely knew the girl also; the only reason as to why she was going was because her friends were going. So on my Halloween night I gave candy to two people, ate crêpes and watched One Tree Hill, all in all a pretty decent night.

Sunday, now this was a party that I knew I had to go to because I knew the person who’s birthday it was, we weren’t sleeping over, and I hadn’t gone to the last two parties, so I was kind of making amends to my host sister. This party was a surprise party for the host sister of one of my exchange student friend. So we got there late, because we were told to come between 6 and 8 so we arrived at 8 only to have to wait another hour for the birthday girl to arrive. That was fine I got to hang out with my exchange student friends and my host sister because it turned out at this party we didn’t know many people because almost all of them were in Terminal (like our grade 12). So that was fine and about an hour after the birthday girl had arrived my host sister and I walked over to her friend’s house and visited for an hour and a half. This was pretty decent and interesting because they reminded me of my friends telling stories and secrets. So that was a really comforting feeling. After visiting for sometime we went back to the party and hung out for two more hours then finally deciding that we had had enough and it was time to leave. We were then able to catch a ride with a school friend and her mom. Then at 1 in the morning we arrived and I crashed, next thing I knew it was Monday.

Monday and Tuesday I didn’t do much, almost all of us kids did homework that we were supposed to have finished during the rest of the vacation and got ready for our first day back to school. On Wednesday at my school only everyone was having a Friday. This meaning that all of the courses that we normally have on Friday we would be having on Wednesday and Friday. The only reason that they were doing this was because some time in May there would be no school on a Friday and they needed to make it up somehow. This was their solution, have Friday on Wednesday. So it was all right Friday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I think the teachers (the Friday ones were happy because they were able to teach us more times in the week than normal. Once again it was Saturday, and you know what that means…
